The Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) will supply water alternately to townships
during the Thingyan Festival, according to assistant director U Kyaw Kyaw Oo of water supply section of the YCDC.
As Joe Phyu and Puu Gyi reservoirs have stored water more than the average level, water will be adequately supplied to townships during the Thingyan Festival, said the YCDC.
Water will be supplied to Kyauktada, Pabedan, Latha, Lanmadaw, Bahan and Dagon townships between 8 am and 11 am, and 3 pm and 6 pm. Water will be supplied to Ahlon, Kyimyindine and Sahchaung townships between 8 am and 10 am.
‘‘Water will be supplied to Tamwe,Pazundaung, Botahtaung, Mingaladon, Insein, Mayangon, Yankin,Kamayut, Hlaingthaya, Shwepyitha, North Okkapala, South Okkalapa,Thingangyun, Thaketa, Dawbon,south Dagon and east Dagon asusual,’’ said U Kyaw Kyaw Oo.
‘‘Thingyan pavilions have to apply for water for Thingyan by 12 pm on 13 April. The price is between Ks-150,000 and Ks-1 million depending on the size of water pipe,’’ he said.
“We have arranged two 50,000- gallon water tanks in Maha Bandoola Park, and a 30,000-gallon capacity water tank in the City Hall for the splash walk,” he added.
So far, the Yangon municipality has received around 30 applications for Thingyan pavilions. Su Latt
