The Department of Archaeology and National Museum stated experts from Myanmar and France found weapons and skeletons in Stone, Bronze and Iron ages and utensils in Pyu era from Hanlin region in their combined research processes.
Ancient Hanlin city located in Wetlet Township of Shwebo District in Sagaing Region was enlisted on the list of World Heritage Sites in 2014.
Evidential utensils in Stone, Bronze and Iron ages and Pyu era were found there 20 years ago. In order to put irm evidences on record, a four-year plan was launched in 2017 by
oficials and staff of the department and French experts from CNRS organization of France in their research in ancient Hanlin city.
On 2 April, the French Ambassador, French researchers, Director General U Kyaw Oo Lwin of the department and oficials inspected research tasks in ancient Hanlin city.
During the two-year period as from 2017, the combined team found weapons, skeletons and Pyu era utensils. These evidences showed Hanlin city is not only an area of flourishing Pyu culture but also developed area of Stone Age.
That is why a proposal was submitted to the superior bodies to continue MyanmarFrance combined research tasks with the research fund of French government by signing a 20-year MoU between both sides.
