Heavy rain in Yangon before the storm
As Cyclone Mokha approaches, most parts of Yangon have been experiencing heavy rain since around 10:00 a.m. today, May 11.
After a light rain at around 1 pm yesterday, it is raining heavily in most places today.
A resident of Dagon Port Township, Yangon Province, told RFA that the weather was too hot before the rains, so he waited for the rain even though he knew there was a danger of storms.
“It’s hot, it’s hot, The apartment is small, The electricity was off, and the grandparents were at home, so it was not convenient at all. Waiting for the rain Now that it’s raining, it’s quite comfortable. Life is like waiting for stormy rain. I am worried about the people where the storm will pass.”
The Meteorology and Hydrology Department of the Military Council announced at 10:30 this morning on May 11 that a powerful low-pressure storm in the southeast of the Bay of Bengal has moved north and northwest and has become stronger and has reached the status of Cyclone Mokha.
